Nova Scotia Special Needs Hockey Club

Atlantic Canada's 1st Special Needs Hockey Club!

Nova Scotia Special Needs Hockey Club, a.k.a. the Nova Scotia Highlanders, is a registered non-profit society that is a partner of Hockey Nova Scotia and a member of Special Hockey International and Canadian National Special Hockey. Started in September 2016, it provides an opportunity for male & female athletes with Autism, Asperger's, Down Syndrome or any other developmental disability that'd impair and/or prevent participation on a mainstream hockey team. Our program is open to eligible athletes who are age 5 and up including adults, of ALL skill levels & backgrounds to play hockey in an inclusive, fun-first environment.

Our club is located in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

SAD NEWS:

The Nova Scotia Special Needs Hockey Club was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of our valued founding executive members and past 3 years President, Mr. Jack Landry, a long-time mentor, friend to all, & coach to many of our players via Special Olympics even prior to our club's formation. We extend our deepest sympathies to Jack's family & everyone else who respected and loved him for the amazing person he was. A link to his obituary can be found here-
